In May I had the opportunity to partner with Calm San Diego. They specialize in Acupuncture and Chinese medicine, which has been very interesting to me, but haven’t been able to experience it until now. I will say that I was excited, but also nervous at the same time in the beginning. Acupuncture deals with needles, which I am not a huge fan of, but in acupuncture the needles are super thin and only hit the surface of the skin. After my first treatment everything that I thought of in the very beginning all went away. Also Angela and Michelle (the ladies, who did my treatments) Explained the process and made me feel good every time I went in to visit. Does Acupuncture hurt, no, but you do sometimes feel muscle jumps. It is a weird feeling, at first but if you just relax everything is totally fine. I promise!!

Calm San Diego is a very calm (hints the name) and soothing environment, which made me feel at ease. I went in for a total of 5 treatments, which consisted of Acupuncture, Cupping and Massage. My Appointments typically were an hour each time, we worked on my back, neck and shoulders, because they are the tightest areas of my body (man oh man!!!). Being someone who works out a lot and has been involved with sports for most of my life I have experienced tons of tightness, and also just in everyday life we all carry so much tension in areas that we don’t even realize. I definitely learned so much while laying down each week on the table. Calm has a full program that you can ask about if you are interested.

Both Acupuncture and Cupping help to release tension in targeted areas and help to allow the blood to flow better, which helps the body to function better!!

Here’s a better explanation below of what exactly Acupuncture and Cupping is and how it can help the body in so many different ways…

Acupuncture can help regulate various systems within our bodies, such as our nervous system, digestive system, cardiovascular system, our endocrine and immune systems. Because of these effects on all these systems, acupuncture can help with anxiety, insomnia, pain relief, balancing hormones, improving digestion and much more.

Cupping increases blood circulation

encourages the release of toxins within the tissues

relieves muscular pain and tension, and promotes relaxation.

Cupping works by creating a local micro trauma which signals the body to send fresh blood to facilitate our body's natural healing process.

I’m super grateful that I was able to experience Acupuncture and Cupping. I know it’s something that I need to keep doing in my life as often as possible. I don’t know if I can quite explain the feeling in a way that makes sense, but every time I went in for a treatment I would just allow myself to just drift somewhere else and take a luxurious nap while getting my back worked on. I feel like it allowed me to enjoy the experience so much more, because my little back had some serious work that needed to be done (Wooo!!! Let me TELL you!!). By the 5 session the knots and tension was so much less then my first appointment, so I definitely believe in the power and benefits of getting these type of treatments done. I encourage you if you are reading this to try out acupuncture or cupping (maybe both) at least once to see how it works for you.
