Everything You need to Know for Creating a Luxury Road Trip Experience

The words “luxury” and “road trip” don’t really go together, right? Usually, when people think of road trips, what immediately comes to mind would be car crashes, staring at streets, convenience store junk food, hours of sitting, staying the night at a sketchy motel, lack of sleep, and lack of being refreshed. Honestly, the list could keep going on.

While sure… technically there isn’t anything luxurious about a road trip. After all, it’s seen as a cheaper alternative than a cruise, train, or flight somewhere. But with that said, these can still be luxurious! Will there need to be some tweaks? Yeah, of course, but you can turn nearly any road trip into something that’s luxurious and unforgettable. It’s going to take some planning and maybe thinking a bit outside the box, but it’s possible. So, here’s what you need to know!

keep reading below.

Start with the Car

You don’t need a limo or some fancy Italian sports car to have this start off on the right wheel. If your current car just doesn’t cut it for a long-term drive, then you might want to look at Edmunds for potential car ideas for what you could buy, or, of course, you can just rent a car. Some car rental companies will rent out more luxurious brands, but you’ll need to research and ask around first.

But the car counts; if you want it to have unique features like heated seats, cooling cup holders, infotainment, and the list goes on and on. Just make sure to choose a car that suits your preferences and complements the overall theme of your journey.

Pick the Best Route Possible

Keep in mind that the journey is quite literally the destination for road trips. So, you’ll want to turn your road trip into a visual feast by simply planning a scenic route. There are more than enough sources online; just be sure to research picturesque landscapes, charming towns, and iconic landmarks along the way. If you can, try your best to avoid the monotony of highways and opt for scenic byways, allowing you to indulge in the beauty of the journey itself. Sure, the backroads will take longer, but who cares? It’s honestly worth it!

Luxury Accommodations

If you can, say no to motels like Days Inn, Best Western, Motel 6, Motel 8, or just any motel or run-down hotel. These will not give you the experience you want! So, go ahead and upgrade your overnight stays by booking luxury accommodations along your route.

Ideally, try to choose boutique hotels, charming beds and breakfasts, or even glamorous resorts that offer not only a comfortable night's sleep but also unique and indulgent experiences. If you’re taking the backroads, then you’ll probably be coming across bed and breakfasts the most.

Shake Up the Activities

Boring roadside attractions? Nah, go for something bigger and better! So, what you’ll want to do to make your road trip truly unique would be to incorporate personalized experiences. Whether it's a private tour, a scenic helicopter ride, or a wine tasting at a vineyard along the way, these tailored experiences add a touch of exclusivity to your adventure.

We hope that you have fun planning your next road trip!!!
