Summer Skin Care Routine

Everyone loves the summer sun, but it isn't a friend to your skin. Whether it's choosing the best skin products, from moisturizer to glycerin deodorant, or remembering to layer on sunscreen, these tips will help you keep your skin glowing all summer long!

Always keep sunscreen on you

It may seem like an obvious one, but everyone has been guilty of heading out the door without covering exposed skin with sunscreen. You should be applying sunscreen every day, even if you’re simply popping out to the local store. It not only helps reduce the risk of sunburn, but also reduce the risk of getting skin cancer in the future. Pro tip? Only opt for sunscreen that is SPF30 or higher for the best protection!

Wear minimal make-up

We all have an everyday make-up routine, but it’s certainly not the best choice in the summer. Too much make-up can cause break-outs and even cause unwanted bacteria to thrive on your skin due to the hotter weather. This summer, take a step back from make-up and give your skin a chance to breathe. If you do decide you cannot go without, choose lightweight, gel-based or cream-based make-up products with added SPF to help protect your skin.

Exfoliate once or twice a week

Using sunscreen may be the best protection for your skin from the sun, but it can do a number on your pores. Exfoliating your skin doesn’t not only works wonders on removing old, dead skin cells, but also helps unclog pores and remove unwanted blemishes. Remember though, you should avoid using any exfoliating products if you are sunburned.

Choose the right products to keep your skin happy and healthy

In the summer, it’s more important than ever to know how to improve your skin and keep it healthy. To be able to choose the best products for your summer skin care routine, it is key to know your skin type and look for products that are made specifically for it.

  • If you're prone to dry skin, glycerin deodorant will not only help you combat sweaty summer odor, but also help your skin retain its natural moisture.

  • Whether you have dry skin or not, everyone needs to moisturize in the summer. Moisturizing can help to re-hydrate your skin, which is often needed during hotter weather.

  • As much as you may love the tanned look, there is no such thing as a ‘healthy tan’ – it’s all UV sun damage. Consider using self-tan products instead of spending hours in the sun getting a natural tan.

Protect your skin with accessories

Protecting your skin isn’t just about cleaning products and habits. With any exposure to the sun’s UV rays, your skin is at risk for damage. Sometimes the most important part of any skin care routine is covering up. But don’t let that stop you from enjoying your best fits! Covering your head with the right accessories such as silk scarves to sun hats, and your body with outfits such as long, loose sleeves are great places to start. To stay cooler, opt for clothing and accessories made from cooler fabrics such as cotton or linen.

We all want to look and feel good all year round. With these tips you can ensure you’re looking after your skin and can maintain a fabulous summer glow during the hottest season of the year!
