Winter Skin Care with oils
It is now Winter and with that comes colder weather. For people that have a pretty consistent skin care routine, you may notice that you have to switch up products that you use in the warmer months of the year. For myself I have oily skin, but in the winter I have dry patches from time to time. Something that really helps my skin are oils!! I know they have been a little trendy this year, but I have been using skin oils for the past couple of years. They are most helpful for me when I use them during the evening before I go to sleep and then I wake up with nicely hydrated skin. If you are on the drier side you might want to add an oil in to your morning skin care and see what happens.
Below I am sharing some products that I have been using recently and showing what has been helping me now that it is a bit cooler.
One of my favorite brands for oils and serums is Advanced Clinicals!! They have a great variety of products for all skin types and skin care needs. Their oils are really light and give a great dewy look that I love. The 2 oils that I have been using quite a bit lately are the Argan and Rosehip oil. I combine them together and also use them separately with a moisturizer. Rosehip is great for wrinkles and evening out skin tone. Argan oil helps to firm and tone the skin. Both of the oils help to keep a youthful glow, which is something we all want right!!
I have also been using the Neroli Clarifying Facial Oil from Naturopathica and a Perfecting Facial oil from Nuori. These two oils have a mixture of different oils that help to perfect and keep the skin clear of blemishes. They are both on the more thick side for me, so I don’t use them as often. I usually use them alone with out any other cream or moisturizer. These are on the pricey side. I recommend you try out Advanced Clinicals if you are just starting out with using skin care oils. They are much more affordable and you honestly don’t need expensive skin care to have amazing skin.
Vitamin E and Hyaluronic Acid have been something that I love using during the day and night time all year long, but they help so much in colder weather!! They keep the skin plump and hydrated!! I bought these serums at TJ Maxx by Provence Beauty. TJ Maxx and Ross have a lot of great skin care items that are really affordable. I love going in to both stores just for beauty, when I am not looking for anything else.
Because I have dry patches from time to time and I notice that my skin may be a little more rough and flakey at times… I have been exfoliating a lot more. One of my favorite facial scrubs is from Brandless!! It is only $3 and it lasts for quite a while. It doesn’t have any parabens or artificial ingredients in it and it smells amazing!!
The other product that I have been using lately is the Besan + Turmeric Polishing Grains by Cocovit. Turmeric is a great natural skin brightener!!! I love adding the grains to my cleanser to get a nice smooth finish after washing my face.
Both of these exfoliators are not harsh on the skin and I use them usually during my night time routine. Occasionally I will exfoliate during the day. It really depends on the condition of my skin day to day.
These last two items have been helping a lot to manage my breakouts!! I have acne prone skin so I do like to use products with Glycolic and Salicyic Acid in them. I have found that it helps to only use them just a few times a week, because it can be a little too drying for the skin.
Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Cleanser - I tend to use this a few times a week (1-2 times). A little bit goes a long way!!
Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Serum - I use this a few time a week as well (2-3 times). I use it under my moisturizer and oils before bed.
That is it!! I hope this helps you if you are looking for something new to try this winter. What are some of your favorite products to use?? What helps your skin in the winter months?
