If you saw part 1 of this post, then you know a few trends from New York Fashion Week that I was loving so far in the beginning of the week. Now that the week is over, I wanted to close out this series with the rest of the trends that stood out to me and what else I noticed. Keep reading below…

Spring and Summer to me means bold bright colors, fun prints and soft silhouettes. There was plenty of that shown during this season at New York Fashion week, so be on the look out in 2022!!

A key stand out color, was PURPLE!!! Collections like Sergio Hudson, Private Policy and Brandon Maxwell (shown above) among others had pieces in different hues, all beautifully done in my opinion. It is one of my personal favorite colors, so its exciting to see. There were also quite a few jeweled tones present along with sequins as well. I think that we can expect to have another bright and vibrant season during the Spring and Summer of 2022.

Hair and makeup definitely helps to bring a whole look together!!! One thing that I noticed this season were a lot of braided and natural styles showcased through out the week. As a black women and model myself hair is something that is huge in the black community. Black Hair is something that has often been seen as not attractive or fashion forward when it comes to braids and natural styling. To be able to see models in major shows like Tom Ford, Markarian and Michael Kors (shown above) is refreshing in my eyes and I hope that it is a sign of continued change and acceptance. All hair is beautiful no matter how its styled!!! That narrative needs to continue to be seen.

Other trends that I noticed through out the week, were lots of suiting and soft layers. Suiting was both structured like the look from Sergio Hudson shown above and also there were over sized looks as well. There was a lot of soft layering like the look above shown from Peter Do with silky fabrics, oversized dress shirts and trench coats. I live for a good oversized look, so I loved a ton of the looks from the Peter Do collection.

Although I wasn’t actually present in person at fashion week, I had a good time at home checking out the collections and seeing what each designer put together and worked on for this season. I look forward to actually being at fashion week in future seasons soon.

Let me know which were your favorite shows and what trends you noticed.
